I am looking for information regarding Put-A-Penny and Put-A-Nickel holders (coupons) from the 1935-1941 era.

I know their use, design, etc. What I'm interested in is what colors they were made in (I know of blue, black, green, orange, purple, red, and yellow) and any odd companies that used them.

If you have examples of these holders, please post a picture (both sides if there is information on each).

@llo, in looking through previous CCF threads, I'm not seeing much prior information here on these coin encasements. You likely already known about tokencatalog, but just in case not, here is a link to the ten entries for put-a-penny (but unfortunately none for other denominations):

Yes, I am aware of the TokenCatalog. It does have numerous Put-A-Penny encasements pictured, including some specifically from Canadian stores.

Seems like the colors I mentioned in my initial post are all there were, however, I did obtain one that is rather different than all the others. It was distributed by the Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. and was used for a contest that ran from 9/9/1940 through 10/19/1940.

There were 14 different coupons for this contest, one for each individual letter in the slogan "Hot Water Is Liquid Sunshine." The fourteen letters, in alphabetical order, are A D E H I L N O Q R S T U W. Many holders must have been handed out to customers, but I wonder how many people assembled the necessary 14 to claim a prize.

This is the only dual color Put-A-Penny holders I've seen so far.

Very interesting. Not what I was expecting to see. I was thinking of coin boards.
