Hello Everyone! Here is a 1922-S Peace dollar graded MS64+ by NGC, with doubling of the under nose, upper lip and chin. The doubling seems to be pretty deep in the design, and going in different directions. I mention this because I am under the assumption that Machine Doubling of devices must all be facing in the same direction? What do you think? The close-up picture is from a scan, the other two are NGC photographs.

I think this doubling is caused by lighting and glare in the scan. I don't see any doubling in those NGC photos.

You won't see anything in the photographs, as the shadows are too deep. I'll see if I can get better pics, without the shadows. It shows much better in the scan as is. You'll notice that the scan glare, like moss, is on the north parts of the devices. The doubling appears south, and is not affected by glare.

That toning makes it difficult to see any PUP's without good clear close-ups.
There is no listed 22-S VAM "Hot lips" that I could see...
Just a quick guess...try 2AD

I see MD under the nose, lips and under the chin.
