Hello everyone,

I found this dime the other day. It is smaller than my other 2015 dime. The rim is smooth like a penny but smaller than the penny planchet. I've seen this on other posts with other years, but the answers were indefinite. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michelle

Looks like an early stage Dryer Coin.

Nice example of a Dryer Coin. Dryer Coins can have quite smooth rims. While not unknown, dimes typically are not the go-to option for those wanting to spoon a coin. Keep it as a fun curiosity.

to the CCF The answer to all these coins is spooned or dryer. This one is a spooned coin. The difference is a spooned coin will not have any damage to the obverse and reverse like a Dryer Coin will. And as far as too small for a spooned coin to make a ring, it wasn't intended to be a ring. Someone just had to much time on their hands.
