I am evaluating, ( trying to find a simple program), the use for coins photo processing, and making over-lays, for the varierties identicication. Do any of you, use, or know anything about this program? I have Photoshop 7.0, and it is too complicated for my simple mind! Any advice, and/or suggestions for this application are welcome. Thanks,
Dick

UPDATE
I have PhotoStudio SE Edition (ArcSoft PhotoStudio v2.0)program (not very big, under 8 mb), and it's fairly simple for me. I could see if I can email it to you once I get to the house.

PM sent,

success,

I have just started using Gimp and so far I have not had to reference the manual. So I would place it high up there in the looser friendly category...

Gimp is good, definitely. If you don't need all the options it provides (LOTS!) there is also Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com (it's also free) - I've heard lots of good things about it and use it occasionally. I did prefer photoshop, but only because I'm so used to it - until SuperDave pointed out that the Gimp has better sharpening and brightness/contrast control... and he was right

Just goes to show that you don't have to put out hundreds of dollars for good software.

Dick. If you're looking for a simple program, Adobe Lightroom. Simple yet, very powerful. I've been using it for general photography for a few years now and it's great. I've never tried anything else. Nor would I. Specifically designed for photographers. I use version 1.4.1, but Lightroom 2 is out now. Just don't have the funds. A free trial is available for download through Adobe. There are many tutorials from experts explaining in detail it's in and outs.

I think you'll like it, it's a beautiful program.

Hi everyone! I appreciate all the responses, and will be using as much as possible. I was informed at the VA Hospital, yesterday, in the low-vision clinic, that the VA will provide training in the different compuuter areas. They also mentioned some special training , that involves going to Palo Alto, CA. for 6-7 weeks. I would be interested it it, but need a rundown on the program to be able to mske preparations at home for the abscense, as I handkle all the monthly expenses, and provide my wife with funds for household expenses, food, ets If anyone is familiar with what goes there, I would appreciate your help. Pm me as you wish, or email. I will respond to all replies. Thanking you all in advance,
Dick
