Is the edge of the coin beveled all the way from obverse to reverse? Meaning, is the largest diameter of the coin flush with the surface of the reverse?

I'm going to say it is not a Dryer Coin.

Rest in Peace

I think it was broken out of an encasement.

I have a couple of these.. and had to post the same question, as well I'd like to see what kind of encasement does this sort of damage -- I only see them after someone has broken them out, and they are in this condition.

Odd looking. Why would it be encased? Did something happen that year that I missed?

The rim is the key. It is distorted from the pressing into the "GOOD LUCK" Or whatever holder. On a Dryer Coin the edges are rolled over.

I agree with the encasement theory + worn.
