Quote: The loonie and toonie is that # for all coins plain and coloured? Yes, that is the total number minted. We, the public, cannot be sure how many were coloured/non-coloured. But it seems to have become custom that there is a 2:1 ratio (2 mill. coloured / 1 million non-coloured) in cases like these.

Am I correct to believe that these numbers reflect the number of coins minted in that calendar and not the number of coins that bear that year on them? If so, are there any official mintage numbers for each denomination and year? For example, will there be any way to know exactly how many 2023-dated nickels there are?

It's the number of coins minted in the calender year. It says nothing about the year that is on the coins. Quote: For example, will there be any way to know exactly how many 2023-dated nickels there are No, not any more. The RCM did provide such information in their annual reports. The last time they did it was in 2014. Starting with the annual report of 2015 this information was not given anymore. If you are a Canadian citizen you might try a freedom of information request. Will it work? Who knows?

I am giving this a bump incase someone more "in-the-know" might come across it; I had understood that the Winnipeg Mint started minting KCIII coins started being minted in November 2023, and ceased being minted as 2023 dated coins as of December 31 2023; Is there any information out there on the mintage of KCIII 2023 dated circulation coins?

I'm pretty sure that they were still minting 2022-dated coins in 2023 as the new KCIII effigy took a surprising long time to come about.
Marie Lemay didn't strike the first King Charles coin until November 14, 2023. It's hard to know if the Mint stopped minting 2023 coins at the end of December 31, 2023. It would makes sense that they would, but it didn't give them much time to make 2023-dated coins.
From my experience looking through coin rolls, the nickel and quarter are very common. The dime is very tough to find. The loonie and toonie are tough to find as well, but definitely easier than the dime.

Thanks for chiming in! I have had all my in-laws keeping an eye out for me; as of this past weekend I have acquired four nickels, one dime, and one quarter. I have no doubt that the mint was making 2022 dated coinage through to November 2023; The RCM had previously stated that they were not going to mint any regular circulation coinage with the Queen on the obverse, and a 2023 date (the exception seems to be special issues). Unless I was mistaken, the press release by the mint said that the 2023 dated KCIII coins were only supposed to be minted between that November date, through to the new year. It would be great of the mint would get back to disclosing mintages - they should be able to do it quite easily while maintaining their stupid yearly numbers.

I was having a tough time finding the 2023 dime CRH too and I had given up on the idea of finding an uncirculated roll...... At my branch today my teller mentioned that she just got an unopened RCM box from Garda and saved it for me. It was dated 2024-01-26 so there was a chance that it could be 2023!! I opened it and amazingly one and a half years later I got a 2023 dime mint box. I'm not sure where it was hiding but I'm glad it ended up at my branch.
