I found an unusual 1999 D Lincoln Memorial cent with an interesting strike which looks like a proof! There were 6.3 Billion minted in Denver that year! I could find no information for this coin except a brief reference which stated RD with a Proof like appearance and good detail. So what is this coin? I am sure there is more information so I sent 8 pics (sorry and the coin is very bright so difficult to take a pic of) to see if anyone has seen this coin before. Thanks for looking and regards all.

Wow an MS-69 on a business strike Lincoln. That's exceptional.

Were the people in the Denver mint trying a new planchet or was it just a new Die?

If you search through mint sewn bags of zincs, you'll find two different surfaces. One is a dull copper almost brushed look. The other one is bright shinny surface like this one. As stated above, these are struck with new dies.

I have never seen a zinc cent minted so sharp. Wow that's nice.
