So, I found this strange (to me) 2012 Lincoln Shield cent. The obverse has nearly 0% relief to it, strangely. And the reverse has plenty of relief. And if you look closely at the date, the "12" of 2012 looks "hollow"(?). This may be nothing, I couldn't find anything about it from Google and I didn't turn up anything from from search. It just felt off in the hand and it was thicker than others of the same year. I threw it on the scale and it reads 2.49g.
If you need any more info or photos, just let me know I can get much closer magnification if need be.

It is PMD not a mint error. Maybe some type of " Dryer Coin"

Would it be thicker than usual being a Dryer Coin? And the front is almost smooth, while the reverse is not. Even with the edge on the reverse looking the same as front, the shield and other central devices aren't effected. And it weighs 2.49g

Use the search box here on CCF for Dryer Coin. Yours may not be a Dryer Coin, but it is PMD not a mint error.

Dryer Coin or sanded down. It's PMD. Just a spender.

not a Dryer Coin, seeing how the rim is gone - and the obverse surface is perfectly flat (low spots excepted)
This coin was sanded down.

Take a coin using sand paper, apply sand paper to coin and you will get the same look as your coin.

@Dmil070182 - Coin appears to be either sanded or ground down, particularly on the reverse. Some of those deep scratches seem almost like file marks.

Right, except don't. Copper dust and zinc dust are not substances that you want on your skin, eyes, or lungs.

Well, dang. I was sure I'd found something here. It just felt off in the hand, felt heavy really. Oh well, onwards to the next rolls. Thanks everyone. I've learned a lot from visiting and joining this forum.

If it looks like an MRI, then it's probably been messed with.
