Following is a PCGS-based photograde for the Japanese "Sakura" 100 Yen coin.
Afer my initial draft posted at http://goccf.com/t/462579, I was able to put together a more comprehensive list thanks to the help of PCGS customer service (kudos to them!). I'll be sharing here future updates
On the obverse of this coin, cherry blossoms (sakura) are depicted. Reverse features the value, year and era. First issue was minted in 1967 (Showa 42) and continues to this date. Prior of that year this denomination was minted in silver with different designs. From that year on, the sakura design has been the same apart from the different era/year on the reverse. Below only takes into consideration standard issues (no commems, which were issues in several occasions).
No specimens have ever been graded lower than AU50 by PCGS, following are grades greater or equal as of April 2024.
