1976 D Bicen Quarter Mint Mark Question

Came across an interesting looking mint mark. Rotated 20 degrees clockwise and appears to be repunched to correct the orientation.

Variety Vista has one listing, much less clear than this example.

I agree fully with above. The 1 VV listing for a '76-D RPM looks nothing like yours.

And, that 'circular' feature on the obverse was caused by a coin roll wrapping/crimping machine.

I agree with you all that the hollow D center is filled, but this coin has a perfect D shape. How can "damaged and filled" look like that?

for a MM to be filled, all that has to happen is to have the center post to break off - then the metal can flow into the new void.

keeping odd coins like this is always a good thing to do - for reference and identifying other types of damaged coins.
