Sounds like you have normal small date copper cents. You may be thinking of the rare 1982 D small date copper cent of which only two are presently confirmed.
Copper normal weight is 3.11 grams and copper plated zinc core is 2.5 grams +/- .10 grams mint tolerance. Check Coin Facts left side of page.What error are you referring to?Make sure it is a small date. John1
Here's a side-by-side comparison of the 1982-D large date and the 1982-D small date. You want to find the small date struck on a copper alloy planchet. They're quite rare and highly sought after.
