and now for the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey use to say, or maybe not.

- May 27 - sold in NGC AU details holder for $491, then returned to the ebay dealer Larry Lucree (aka ryman1003 on ebay)
- July 4th - now cracked out and sold to me for $701. 2nd bidder was clearly a dealer with 24k feedback and over the last 30 days placed 5.5k bids on 3k items
- July 29th - bought again for $515, this time by the same dealer with the exact same stats that bid me up on July 4th.
- August 17th - found the same coin listed as BU++ by none other than Great Southern Coin
- August 19th - sold by GSC for an eye watering sum of $2,525!

For that price and a little patience, I'm sure I could find a NGC/PCGS CAC MS 1812.

Had I not found the AU details holder, I might have kept it. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for a relisting in the next month or two.

That's quite some detective skills. What an interesting journey for that coin.
