I would like to hear some opinions from you Morgan aficionados out there. What would you grade this coin? Edited by mdh157 08/14/2024 7:42 pm

@mdh, I'm trying to add the date and mintmark to your title, but that second pic is so jittery that I can't read it. Can you please add better pics as that will help me with the title but also folks who are trying to offer their opinions as to the grade? Thx.

Please rotate the obverse pic, enlarge it, and sharpen all images.

What slab is it in? Best to crop pics before posting them. John1

Looks like a 1878-S PL or DMPL of some grade between 61 and 67 all depending on what some better quality pictures that are properly oriented might look like when/if we see them. (I know my eyes are bad, but they ain't THAT bad!)

I'll guess MS-65.
Errers and Varietys.

I just posted better pics at beginning of thread. It's an 1878-S.

I'd give it a MS65 PL. Nice coin!

sure would like to see that shadow area from the cheek down. i'll assume the luster is there. if it is then MS65PL to push it past PL you need to give us depth reference like newsprint with the coin on its rim

Panzaldi.......cannot do that as the coin is slabbed. I will post the slab front later today.

I'll sit this one out. Obverse fields are too dark to evaluate.
