I got graded this nice 1859 DP N9 ICCS MS-64 and it's an early version of the type #4 of DP. It's also double 8 and double 5.

I am not sure how rare it is and what its value as I plan to list it on ebay.

See photos.

Your coin is a Haxby # PC59-167 ( Obverse die 48 and Reverse die J7a ).

It isn't the variety generally referred to as DP9 #4. That would be a Haxby # PC59-46 ( Obverse die 23 and Reverse die E25a )

It's a very nice coin, but the re-punching on the 9 is not as bold as on the DP9 #4.

As stated above, the DP#4 is much more offset and complete. I think that your coin is the same as P 283 of the 65th Charlton that 5 of us put together for 2011 for the Vicky large cent varieties. In there, we put an estimate of $800 for an MS-60. We did not go any further with estimates than 60, because they were difficult to find and not much info available. If you are going to collect Vicky large cents, get a copy of the 2011 Charlton to use alongside Haxby. The varieties in the 65th used the old Charlton numbering or ID system and has excellent photos. An extremely nice coin that you have. I hope that "bosox" gets into this discussion, as he may need a 65 for his Registry set.
