I am hoping these images are sufficient to determine a reasonable grade. One thing to add, the wings on the reverse are both in the same condition as the right one. Didn't turn out that wat on the photos though.

the staining and haloing especially around front of the portrait along with the old coloring on the reverse are leading me to say that the coin was improperly cleaned.

AU details (improperly cleaned)

Dowhat, One of the biggest components of grading coins is learning to assess if a coin would grade straight. it can take years of looking at coins and even then, in certain cases, its a crap shoot. there are so many ways to clean a coin and some cleanings may not even details a coin. there is a fine line sometimes depending on how and how much it was cleaned. dipping coins is probably one of the most common. that line can be crossed if all the original surfaces have been removed. a light dip may not even details a coin. if you are going to purchase raw coins its advisable to inspect hundreds of slabbed coins deemed details. best place to find them is ebay. this will give you a good representation of the different types of cleaning. the second biggest component of determining a details coin is probably post mint damage and learning what to look for. this can be an easier task as it typically is more apparent.
