I have looked at WELL over a million Lincolns

The fact that some of you have indeed searched that many coins is beyond remarkable
to me. The collection I inherited is right around 10,000 coins and after 18 months
of searching through them I'm not even half way through.

Check out John1's numbers, I'm a newbie! With time, you will get faster. You will know what areas to concentrate on for certain years that will greatly speed up your searching. I usually take about 4 seconds per coin, unless something catches my eye.

Definitely a DDO.
Is that some secondary doubling inside the top of GOD?
I will try to get some better pics but don't think so.

Personally, this is a tough year to attribute. I think there are more minor ones out there than the ones listed.
I agree, it's hard to determine the normal thickness that comes with these that Tanner spoke of and paired with deterioration, can make it tough.

A little bit of thickness on IGWT and LIBERTY is pretty normal on the large date 1982s in my experience. I think some of the DDO listings for the year maybe shouldn't have been listed.
Thank you for taking time to look, Tanner. I don't really see much, other than deterioration on the majority of the motto but think there is something on LIB and maybe WE. I'll try to get some better pics of those two areas. I think there is notching in those two areas.

Tanner, here are some closeups of the two areas I spoke of. Not really seeing any notching, as such but more the shape of the letters and thickness made me lean towards a doubled die. I suppose it could just be deterioration, tied with the natural thickness of this particular font but still not sure. I was taught to look for the lack of field showing in between the letters on LIBERTY and the same with the lack of field showing in between the serifs.

I agree the listings seem inconclusive at best on all but the FS-101. I have found 5 of the zinc 004's with very thick lettering and even some separations of date. Heres my problem with this listing no 2 coins have the same identical die markings and none have the die scratches running from tie to lower lip shown in attributed example. A Cooper example would settle the matter but their ain't any that I'm aware of. I'm leaning towards its nothing more than thick lettering and some zinc strike up issues?

If this is the case, then more than likely, it's possibly a doubled hub issue.

Put some pictures up of what you are talking about and maybe we can end a lifelong agitation of mine and many others.

luvmyCAM, do you by chance have some of the 004's that have a misaligned die and some that don't?

Alright, thought I might get some help from luvmyCAM, as far as a possible doubled hub study, but not looking good so far. I'm going to put together as much as possible with what is available to us all and anyone who may have multiples of any 82P large date DDO, if you could put up close up pics of LIB and WE, would be greatly appreciated. I don't care if it's a copper or zinc, it may not matter if what I think may have happened, happened.

Petespockets55, can you put up a pic of WE, from your 001 discovery? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Jon.

Well, it took some digging but I found it.
(I had it slabbed by ANACS so hopefully the images are ok through the plastic.)

I'll give you a couple of images since I'm not sure which way the lighting might work best for you.

I usually look for thickness on these 82's in the vertical bars of LIBERTY, thickness on the bottom of GOD, WE, and the U (TRUST).

ps. In my digging I found what I had labeled as WDDO-004. I can
share some images of that one as well if it helps with your original coin.

pss. I found some other 1982 Lincolns I've labeled as new DDO's. Any thickness is showing in LIBERTY in those.

Thank you, sir! Any you would like to put on this thread would be greatly appreciated. At this point, LIB and WE are all I am looking for. I will start compiling pics of "normal" looking coins too, I feel that is just as important. It's more the shape of these particular letters than the thickness that I'm paying attention to. I will start a new thread, once I get enough together to work with. I have a can full of "possible DDO's" to look through too. I think the zinc/copper aspect is important too, as I have had some there were wrong for a particular listing but sure did seem to match.

I know the feeling. I've had some the looking the same but the metal composition was wrong.

I'll add a few more images tonight.

ps. I forgot to add that I scrutinize the spacing, like you do, between the letters of LIBERTY.
