My - even older - Krause quotes $300 and $550 respectively. Maybe the changeover to copper-nickel in 1947 is to blame?

Very nice. Could be that most of them were withdrawn and never released, given the switch to copper-nickel the next year.

Southern Rhodesia, which eventually became Zimbabwe. Now how many Zimbabwe dollars is one of these worth today?
