After 1990 no repunch mint marks. We all know this. I am also confident this is not zinc rot. There is something underneath the punched mint mark. Any thoughts?

Mint mark split plating--exposed the zinc core and zinc rot is setting in. Edges of the plating are relatively flattened--likely circulation caused. I've see many, many similar instances--all rather uniquely shaped.
