Hi thanks for taking your time

I would like to know if you think that the coin can get a ms60 or better as I am considering sending it to pcgs/ngc

What do you think the coin will get.

It may be that the coin is cleaned but if it is can it get a unc?

Any comments on the photos are appreciated (and tips)

I'll say AU sharpness and a details coin (cleaned) if it's even genuine.

Those linear features on the obverse (across the face and neck primarily) are a bit disconcerting.

AU Details cleaned. Hairlines are really distracting.

Right - AU details, cleaned. May have even been a jewelry coin in some sort of bezel with the rim imperfections.

The amount of lightly circulated, AU 1896-O Morgan dollars on the market amazes me. It seems as if the entire mintage was dumped into circulation when it was made and then magically recalled by the mint, bagged up, and then sent to the Treasury in the late 1890's and became part of the Treasury Hoard that was eventually released in the early 1960's. I do not ever recall seeing BU rolls of 1896-O Morgan's being offered in the many Coin World dealer ads in the early 60's. I do remember seeing a lot of the "common" BU 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 and 04 "O" mint coins being offered by the roll and bag. If you had enough money you could even buy solid bags of OO-S, O3-O and 1878-CC coins! It was crazy back then! Something funny just seemed to have happened with the 96-O coins.

AU Details, altered surface. Looks like someone buffed away some bag marks on Liberty's face and on the reverse field to the left of the eagle. Note parallel hairlines both sides of coin and badly disturbed lustre at LIberty's eyebrow and on eagle's left wing tip.
