I have these two very different 1973 S Eisenhower dollars and wondering if anyone thinks either has any special value? Are these just face value aside from the silver? Interesting to get some thoughts.

Nice Ikes!

The first is 40% silver proof. Given the nickname "Brown Ike" for the brown wood-grain box that held the plastic lens in the original government packaging.

The second 40% silver uncirculated. This one is known as the "Blue Ike" for the blue envelope, which you show in the photo.

There two Ikes were the keys to the original 32 coin set. They are worth considerably more more than face.

Both look to be nice coins and the proof one has a nice toning going on.Should have a small premium above melt value.

@Jbuck, thank you! Very interesting. So from the looks of it the 1972 holds the highest value. I have a few, I just don't know how to differentiate T1 from T2.

BTW, it's only in the last few years that the market value has exceeded the original issue price... from the 70s.

There was a time in the 1980s when they were selling for more than they do today. Filling those holes seemed like an unfulfillable a dream to me. I finally bought my silver Ikes in the early 1990s when I realized how affordable they had become.
