I am not a coin collector, but my dad was, so a little rubbed off on me.
My son has this quarter. At first I thought it was a fake because I'd never seen a modern quarter with such an obviously different Washington profile on the obverse, and the border seems uneven. Then I realized the idea of a "fake" quarter is kind of ridiculous.
I looked it up, saw that it's a legitimate quarter, and found you nice folks.
In regards to the border, is this an error?
Is it a collectible in any way?
Do I need to confiscate it from my son for his own good?

It is a tiny bit off-center (both sides, a single side is called MAD or Mis-aligned Dies). It does look like the reverse is more mis-aligned than the obverse. This isn't far enough out to be out of specifications, so it's more a curiosity than anything.

har to tell - the obvers image is a bit out of focus, but I would say the both sides are equally off center - negating a MAD strike here.

Mad on both sides. Notice the direction is different on both sides. If it was off center, the direction would be the same.

Might double check the edge and diameter for anything suggesting any Wide Collar issues Thanks, Doug.
