Where are the designers initials on the 1955 D penny? I can't find them. Thanks. I have a package of 10 UNC that have no Initials. I have a jeweler's loop and can not find them. I am sure I am looking for the correct thing. I have a 1909s VDB. But those initials are on the reverse. The newer should be on the Obverse at the base of the bust as biokem mentions. I see nothing?

If there is one, it should be on the obverse, near Lincoln's shoulder (did they put it there yet?)

Otherwise, there is none on the reverse. Remember the whole thing about the 1909 VDB? If was on the 6 o'clock rim, but people thought it was too prominent and the mint had to take it away halfway through the year and a couple of years later (or a few decades) put it on the obverse.

They have been located on the base of Lincoln's bust since 1918, quite tiny

If the initials are not present, the die is either worn or heavily abraded.

You are correct biokemist, They are under the right shoulder. These 10 do not have any sign of initials. No spots or depressions at all. It is as there were no initials on the dies. I thought I was going nuts there for a little while.
