May 2009 will be a busy one for us coin collectors as the mint will be releasing three new coins (6 if you count both mint marks):

May 14, 2009 - Lincoln Cent Formative Years in Indiana
May 21, 2009 - John Tyler Presidential dollar
May 26, 2009 - Guam Quarter

The Guam quarter and Tyler Dollar won't be a problem for me to get, but the new Lincoln Cent may be more scarce. My local bank gets the new quarters and dollars in about a week after the release date, so I'll get a roll of the Denver Mint coins and send to those who are searching for them.

The first Lincoln Cent everyone is calling the "log cabin" cent, but what will the nickname of version # 2 be? Lincoln will be sitting on a log reading a book.

Where are all the 2009 Roosevelt dimes and Jefferson nickels?

Well......someone posted a link to an article in Coin World about the fact that the Mint has made all of the Dimes & Nickels that they are going to FOR THE YEAR !
The Fed Resv. banks are FULL OF COINS and all local banks are FULL OF COINS.....so ....the Mint decided to cut mintage numbers drastically for at least this year.......may go further than that though as banks continue to become inundated with State Qtrs. and other denominations being turned in by the tens of millions from people who started hoarding/saving them...then deciding to get rid of them.
And of course they have no luck with circulating Pres. Dollars or the Native Dollars......yet they're still minting Billions of those.....for now.

I believe it is just called "The Formative Years" cent. It may be shortened to "The Form" cent. Maybe it will morph into the "The Frodo" cent!?!?

Perhaps it will be referred to as the "Lincoln Reader" cent?

G'day,
can you tell if Abe has just finished reading his book ?
If so, maybe it'll be called the "Read* Cent" *pronounced in past-tense.
