Good morning all, The coin I am posting is my one my father found in change. I am not sure what to make of it. On the obverse of the coin there is what appears to me to be post mint damage but on the reverse is a partial imprint of what appears to be Thomas Jeffersons bust from a nickel. I would appreciate your thoughts. The coin weighs 3 oz, I do not have the coin in my possession. Thank you all in advance for any constructive insights.

Looks like a vise job here. A Jefferson nickel was pressed into your Lincoln One Cent.

Thank you for the response. The only thing that makes me question really is that the bust is raised and not incuse, if it was a vise job would it not be incuse?

Well, that is certainly interesting. Jefferson appears to be a positive, which would not be the result of a vise job. Is it indeed raised, and not just indented and photographed at an angle that makes it only seem raised? Looking forward to what folks have to say on this one.

Sorry for the blurry image on the obverse, it was not that bad originally.

However it was caused, It is PMD not a mint error.

Looks like a Vise Job. PMD. Not an error. https://www.error-ref.com/squeeze-j...-garage-job/

Vise job. The reason it is raised is if you look at the area on the obverse that is damaged it lines up and pushes out the reverse. It tells me the damage on the obverse was done after the vise job.

Do you have other angles of the reverse?

Isn't "Jefferson" facing the wrong way?

That's why I originally stated vise job.

@Tacc, my sleep deprived brain didn't factor in Jeffersons directional aspect, til pete pointed it out specifically, which was the nail-in-the-coffin vise job moment for me. But technically, you did mention it first.
