Hello to all. Introduce myself......I go by the nickname "Lo", reside down on the low cost of SC with my husband. Recently just experienced the worst breakup ever with my 2 very ambitious college aged boys flying the coupe and leaving Mom to hang in a type of purgatory I wasn't ready for. So, in this new "nest" of sorts I've finally had time to sit down with enormous coin collection (full coffee cans stacked in the back of my closet and I know, I know....you're cringing at my preserving methods just as much as I am and definitely my husband lol) anyhow, I'm on a mission to continue something I started years ago with inheriting my fathers coin collection when he passed away in 2007. If I could describe what the past few nights have been like in the living room floor separating the "pocket change" collected over the years. But here I am. I have found myself deep diving into this community well into the late night hours reading and going over the myriad of good topics and discussions, which by the way, I find much more information here than I do in the fiftylevenhundred bookmark tabs for all of the coin resource websites I can find haha. I have somewhat kept up with the coin talk and happenings over the years but I'm rusty and there's always new editions, new this, new that. I have already come across some pretty good suspect pieces and look forward to hopefully getting any input, help, or tips from anyone throughout my discoveries and will be uploading some images in the corresponding forum. *cheers*

From Ca. to CCF

I hoarded my pocket change for more than 40 years, so I can say Good Luck with the hunt and I know you will find some good keepers from those coffee cans. Just take it slow and place all questionable coins in a separate pile. Looking forward on seeing your finds.

Pretty sure you meant "coop" not "coupe" - darn you autocorruptTM. Although they could have fled "in the coupe"...

The only thing I can offer re pocket change is to keep expectations low. That way surprises are pleasant. If you expect to pay off the house, well, it's unlikely.

You should definitely find some silver dimes and quarters. My share of the family "stealing" the real coins (i.e. silver) from Dad's pockets in 1966 & 1967 was 134 silver quarters. Worth around $725 today.
