On the VF20 PCGS piece, must have gotten hit for the ugly black circle on the reverse, it looks VF+. Really makes the OPs coin look like a 12.

No surprises, it's what I expected. This is the JR-4 large 8 variety. I refer to this as the "broken arrow" variety. &

F(12), maybe F(15).

The question about the denticles is interesting. My only Large Dentils Capped Bust dime is a standard, common 1814 one. Even on mine, in an AU(55) holder, the rims get really soft. Here is mine--note the rims and how soft the strike gets at the edge.

Nice looking 1814, adam590. On the reverse, is that graffiti under UNUM or something else?

Good question. I'm really not sure what they are. In person those are so small and toned over that even under a loupe they don't really distract. This is straight graded, and CAC even gave it the green bean (probably too generously--I don't pay CAC money for this coin), but I think auction houses tend to get more coins to CAC than individual collectors and dealers do...I still liked the coin.

I love the colors and the luster on this so I can tolerate these imperfections on a high end circualted type coin..

I don't think it detracts either. Blown up in pictures marks that are fractions of millimeters can look large.
