There is one for sale just like it right now on ebay. I also saw some on another site as well. Is this a mint error or just damage?

I would like to think this is damage from a hit. Considering the coin has been heavily circulated, it's a strong possibility.

Okay, I have now seen 4 of these coins including mine today. Could this a Broken Hub coin?

This was very common for this year. I have several 1936 P in BU condition with this broken "R" leg.
