PCGS - The October PCGS Trade and Grade brought in incredible coins from dealers across the country - including this mated pair. These Two Cents were struck together. The left cent was struck twice, with the second strike causing a brockage on the right cent.
I am not convinced. Top coin just looks like a double struck uniface coin. Note that the full T of CENT is visible. In the brockage on the lower coin there is part of the lower T of CENT visible, which couldn't be there if they were a mated pair. Other bits look slightly askew as well.
It would take every ounce of self control I had to not crack these open and see if they fit together. Unless these were pulled by a mint employee I'd be very skeptical. And even then, for them to catch Two Cents as they're flying off of the press
It was 2000 and coins came in a bag of 5,000. Quite a number of mated coins were found this year as they ended up in the same bag. But these do not appear to be a match, just two common error coins with similar attributes to an actual mated pair.
