I've been meaning to ask about this for a long time now.
I've seen die traveling either EW, WE, NS, SN or a combination.

This one to me looks like it (spun?) in one direction.
Do you think that's possible especially for the anvil die?
I don't recall running across one.

Coin also looks to have a minor RPM.
There's no 1974D RPM listed.

Rob.

IMHO I'd say Machine Doubling on "US of America" just because there's no known listings to match for your coin.
The Variety Vista listing is a much more pronounced DDR, but your coin has some of those characteristics.
Slight RPM probably with evident split serif(s).

Machine Doubling and maybe a damaged mint mark punch.

Agree - just MD. And if that is an RPM it is so slight it probably wasn't even attributed as such.

. You're right that if it is an RPM it's really to minor. Or it could be a broken punch.
. It does have MD.
I just was curious about how the MD traveled that way? Around the face not just across as it shifted.
