I'm not sure if the term is correctly used, but a client of mine brought in an envelope avoid appeared useless coins from his father. As I look through them of different Origins and such, they all appear to have a significance with each.. As I understand, the stamping process is impossible to have this happen, could it be a real coin and intentionally done at the mint? Its weight is 5grams

This is no doubt a Magician's coin, with one side carefully milled out for the insertion of a slightly reduced-size example of the same series on the other side.

It's a Magician's coin. Two nickels with the reverse sanded/ground off and then put together. I've seen a few around. Even in an auction.

Crazy that work put into it to sell for only 9 dollars, you would think the art alone would be worth more! Even looking at the rim, you can't tell where he reconnected the two to join

Must have been a pretty good machinist to keep the weight right at 5 grams.

Pretty neat find. You're gonna win a lot of coin flips, assuming you get to pick the side! =P

I had the same thought about the weight. Is that an accurate dynamic with magician coins? I'll look it up now

The seam is much less visible in these pictures than on your typical Magician's coin, but I believe it's the second picture that shows the seam. It's especially noticeable at the rim next to the date and clockwise from the last T in "TRUST".

Nice one. I have a similar coin, but with two reverses. The seam is on the edge as if two coins were sliced in half and then rejoined.
