Hi, very interesting. Counterfeit?

Frank Bauman, I don't think so. Both of the coins have an anti-counterfeit notch at the 6 o'clock position on the reeded edge.

Hi, interesting. I did not know about that. Can you take a pic of that ? Then I can know how to tell the difference. Thanks, Frank B.

The fakes are attracted to magnets but both of mine weren't so I know they are genuine.

It would be beneficial to post both coins side by side.........

Marve65...yeah, they look different but both coins are non-magnetic. I need to compare my strange coin to the proofs and Special mints.

The reverse of the 2 coins you showed have differences in the eagles. Not all fakes are magnetic. I saw a video where the person was going through fake coins. The best one passed the ping test, magnetism test, and even the weight was correct. It only failed when tested for silver.
Besides the font, the left wing and leg, head, and leaves appear to be different to me. Also, noticed the location of the L in liberty to the rim is different and missing the short ray from the sun on the left. Definitely fake in my opinion.

Lets just call it what it is - a fake. Removing a reed is easy if you have the ability to fake an entire coin. And right - actually few fakes are made from ferrous materials so won't attract a magnet. I don't see where you said you weighed them.

The US mint only used one die pattern no matter if Proof or Business strike or year of minting. So if there is any discrepancy between a genuine example and a questionable example then the questionable coin is not genuine.
