Found the Penny in a coin container at my house. Don't know anything about black coins. I read a few articles and they say its probably environmental elements that caused it to change color. Does anyone know anything about the coin, and is it worth anything?

Agree, some sort of unusual environmental exposure.

Agree with all above. As noted by BadThad--worth one cent.

Looks like some sort of silver, mercury or zinc plating that has darkened over time.

To CCF! Appears to have been plated. PMD. Worth face value.

@Eboo84 Agree that the pebbling appearance suggests plating of some kind.

With the plating bubbles still there, it was plated over them.

Thank you. I appreciate all the input. I wish it was worth more than face value, but I'm going to keep it for myself. I like it.
