Hello, I was thinking that this penny has been struck through something. I was if you all agree and if so does anyone have any idea what it could be. Thank you.

@jun, from the pics I can't tell if there is any metal that is "smushed" up on the sides. If so it is def damage rather than struck through.

The edges do not push up, there is no sign that there was ever any lettering in the area that is depressed.

Ok good to know. I'm also not seeing any corresponding flatness on the reverse.

If it's legit then this would be a pretty nice find. I'm cautiously optimistic but interested to see where we net out on it.

Yeah, I saw the same thing ( Pareidolia). I blew it up to check it out, I think just lines created by the struck through, either to the coin or that were on the item that got in between and transferred.

My vote is a Struck Through error. Doesn't look like damage to me. Not seeing any metal movement.

What direction is the light source coming in from? If more than one, please take another picture with only one light source coming in from an angle.

The light source is from directly above, it is the lights from around the scope.
