I was having a little bedtime read of my charlton and noticed that there are two different listings for the 1946 Canada dollar. one says FWL and the other says SWL.

I don't normally collect dollars but it got me curious. Can anyone tell me what these refer to and how to differentiate them?

thanks
malissa

Hi, malissa, On the right side of the canoe, you will notice the water lines, some will have 4 water lines, and some will have a single one.

It's a polishing thing from the mint.

Thank you! That was driving me crazy! I knew it had to be water lines, but I couldn't figure out what the F or S was for.

FWL = Full Water Lines (not Four Water Lines), and SWL = Short Water Lines (not Single Water Line). A Single Water Line coin may be listed as OWL - One Water Line.

most likely your best bet would be ebay or maybe colonial coins. I have never dealt with them personally, but they come up in almost every coin search I do so they may have something
