Hello, I hope I am in the right place to post this unusual coin. If not just move this posting to the right forum. I found a magnetic 1943 P Jefferson nickel: in my home junk drawer. I'm not sure if this is a keeper or not. Edited by Dough101 09/25/2024 11:38 am

Larger pictures needed. Don't need to include so much background. Just the coin.

To CCF! Appears to have been plated. PMD. No added value for the plating.
Errers and Varietys.

Nickel is magnetic - so if your nickel is plated with nickel it can become slightly magnetic depending on the thickness of the plating!

to the CCF Agreed with the comments so far. Also please crop your photos to show the subject and not the background.

There's still silver underneath the plating. @ $1.75 worth of silver to CCF Shame about the plating might have been an rpm/DDO / DDR coin

to CCF what a shame to be possibly plating a silver nickel, or was it just highly polished due to its silver content? anyway, very nice texture on your wall there. (please crop your image better so we can se ethe coin and not the world around it).

Better photos! Thanks. It appears the reverse could be showing the probable plating chipping/flaking off. That's unfortunate, just worth the silver content now.

Yes, much better images, thanks
And it looks like Tacc is correct, that the plating layer is flaking off the reverse side.
