Looks like a legit straight clip. Nice!

ADD: It has a clear Blakesley effect, typical tapering where the clip meets the rim, and evidence of metal flow along the denticles and on the date.

It looks legit to me but I'm only 1 year into this coin addiction haha so I'll wait and see what others have to say. so far I think legit is winning

Condition is beautiful, not sure about if it has been cleaned or not. it might have been stored correctly due to the condition

Well it does have a Blakesley Effect. Weakness on the obverse denticles too as stated by Zurie. Seems legit!

All of the evidence points to being a legitimate straight clip.

Based on my comparisons, the position of the third digit indicates 1897 as the nine is farther right than the eight of 1887.
