Nice coin. No matter what VAM you find it to be, it's still worth $80.00 It's not a top 50 VAM.

makescents, I did find some evidence of rusted die pitting around the area of the olive branches at lower reverse side, however, there is no evidence in any of the area of the raised dot. One50, I reached out to Dr David Close and asked him if he would consider taking a closer look. He said he has seen my discussion on Vamworld and agrees that its unique. He is attending a coin show in a couple weeks and will try to find another example that matches mine. He will give me discovery credit if he lists it as a new VAM. Exciting!

Very cool, good luck on a possible new discovery and VAM! Let us know the outcome.

Update: Dr Close emailed me to say he found an earlier die state example with all of the same markers I've listed except for the circle anomaly. He's going to a coin show this weekend in search of another example and will let me know his findings. At this point it looks like the real deal for a possible new VAM. Hopefully I'll know in a week or 2.

Well after a closer in person look by David he said there's not enough there to make a call. So he's sending it back to me, so no answers. #128546; The mystery remains

Well, that stinks. Hardly no one better to have checked it out though.

Well darn it was sure worth a try. Some years ago I sent a 1922 Peace dollar to LeRoy Van Allen clashed on both sides. But there wasn't any letter transfer so no new VAM. I still have LeRoy's letter, fun to keep. He has since retired from accepting coins for consideration, turned it over to others.
