2020 Quarter With Flat Obverse

I found an interesting quarter with a flat face. Weight wise, it is only about a half sigma below average (well within normal weight), so if material was machined off, it was only about 0.03g. The reverse looks fine, so if it was mis-struck, that side did not appear to have much reaction force. The face looks obviously scratched and damaged (almost as if it got stuck in a coin sorter), but there appears to me to be a raised edge that makes me think it could have been a bad transfer in a progressive die. Pictures below. What are your thoughts? Worth anything?

Looks like a deliberately damaged coin. No way did it leave the mint in that condition.

@naz, first welcome to CCF. Second, I don't see how the rim could have been struck up on one side but not the other--this is just mechanical damage as noted above.
