Feel free to tell me I am seeing things but it really looks like an S to the right of the Monticello building but it is really faded and just an outline. I know the only S Mint mark was the silver one from that year, but this isn't silver. Frith Nickel? Just odd.

Doubtful (!), but a closeup of the MM area would help.

I kind of thought so. I mean I will put it under a microscope later for fun. Found in a roll. I'm all like "wait a minute!", when I found it. Haha

It is always worthwhile to take a closer look. Even if it is nothing, you gain experience.

I'm not seeing it. Agree with jbuck that whatever you do see is Pareidolia.

Not seeing it so far!

And of course, it doesn't exist in the first place.

You will not find any 'S' on the side of Monticello - Now if by any chance it Does have a MM there, it will be 'D'.
With the exception of Denver, for the type 1 nickel the MM's will be above the dome.
This is a Type 1 1942 Nickel right before the mint switched to a silver alloy.

Hi, have you put it on a scale? It may be a counterfeit and it is worth checking. The over all appearance dose look odd to me. It should weigh 5.0. Let us know.

If your thinking it's a Henning: " Henning produced dies for coins dated 1939, 1944, 1946, 1947, and 1953."
