Have another curious penny! A 1958 D Wheat penny with what appears to be no rim, missing the L in Liberty entirely, very misshapen and definitely smaller than your average penny!! Do I have something or am I grasping? Probably the latter but you never know!!!

Right - filed rim. Back in the day Cents were filed down to be spent as dimes in vending machines before the machines mechanisms were changed to go by weight of the coin.

Rim has been filed to fit into a dime roll. This was common when I was a kid. I hate when people mess with coins.

Post-strike damage. Filed down, yes. Worth one cent given its condition.
