I don't know much about medals, may be somebody can help me with this one. Looks like aluminum, but more heavy and looks like the new version of old original medal.

Russia1981,

In 1974, the U.S. Mint put out a series (which included this Washington Before Boston medal) called "America's First Medals" in Pewter. Do you think it is pewter? If not, are there edge markings. These marks denote metal and others, called privy marks, denote the approximate minting era. (There have been 5 major restrikes and a number of metals.)

The metals were shipped in little folding black plastic boxes. I have had a number of them in the past and sold them for 50 cents to a dollar. What fun!
