Hello all! I have an odd scenario here, wondering if it is post mint damage/restrike or possibly something that occurred at the mint. It is a Missouri quarter struck on a penny planchet. It clearly looks as though the penny was struck first, then restruck as a quarter. It weighs what a zinc penny should - 2.5 grams. Curious about your thoughts on this one! thanks!

Weird! I do notice backwards writing "ONE CENT" which could indicate a vise job coin...

@Tacc I do see the One Cent, but it does not appear backwards, the original strike is just 180ish degrees offset or maybe I am missing something.

Very interesting. I think Mike Diamond should look at this one. Also, for future references, don't hold a potentially valuable coin with your bare fingers. Oil from your fingers will get on it. It won't go away, unless it's soak in pure acetone right away. Only hold by the edge or wear gloves.

@enzeno you are correct the "ONE CENT is not backwards, it is just upside down in photo. Can't wait to see what this one ends up being...

Looks very good so far. Just have to figure out if the quarter strike was from legitimate dies. Awesome coin!

It looks like an authentic double denomination error (25c on 1 cent coin).
