Ran across this coin in change. The photos don't depict it very well, but the obverse of the coin has convex distortion, while the reverse of the coin has convex. The plating appears thin on the coin's high points and edge, allowing the zinc to show through. My question is this an error coin or did someone somehow damage the coin to create this condition? I can't visualize how one could create this effect. If it is an error, does the coin have any value to an error coin collector? Your comments will be appreciated.

Edge damage could be dryer, but could dryer cause concave/convex shape? That must have one hot dryer.

I concur with Dryer Coin. Thanks for the link nfine. Apparently the long term abrasion on the edge of the coin caused the "dish" shape. Still, interesting affect on the coin.
