So I just today acquired bunch of wheat pennies (1942-1945) and I was looking at this 1945 S and noticed something on reverse in upper left side. And Liberty on obverse looks messed up. Errors? Quick question.....why would a Wheat penny only weigh 3.02 grams? Edited by Girlinlove 10/13/2024 3:12 pm

Can you get a close up of that on the reverse (upper left)?
a cent that weighs 3.02 is within tolerance - just could be a slightly rolled thin planchet.

That new image is the same size - just cropped closer. I was hoping that you could keep the image large and just zoom in on that area.

The error is that it doesn't have the S mintmark on it!

Ok so I took different angle pics and realized when I did that there is a crack going thru the letters as well.... still just a normal coin? Lol it weighs 3.08 grams. PS:I have several with S mint mark. Worth anything?

Looks like it might be a small lamination rather than a crack.

I think I see them, one starting above B and the other above U. If so, then nice find.

Could possibly be a Lamination. Although the pictures are blurry.

The spot under the lettering looks more raised than a crack....I'll try to get better pics

Girlinlove, I recommend you post a question in the photo section asking for help with taking coin photos. Tell us what you are using as a camera and your light set-up and please be specific and detailed. The better the photos you post the better we can help you. You might want to take a break on coin searching and focus on your photos. Pardon the pun LOL. John1
