I have no idea what this reply means. I think you're a bit of a trash-mouth newbie and I just won't engage in your future threads.

It's the 1944 steel penny that's worth any money huh?

Ironically, steel cents are worth very little. They are some of the cheapest in entire wheat series. Why? Because they were so unusual people hoarded them - the word on the street was to save them because they'd be valuable. The result was hundreds of millions of them have survived (they proved to very durable) and the supply exceeds the demand. Even in mint state they only sell for around $5.

1.) Ms Girlinlove is new to coin collecting, & this 'find' was exciting to her. You can't put a value on that. kudos, Ms Girl ...

2.) steel wheat cents have a significant value historically, being tied to our needs of copper in WWII ... anyone with a sense of history can appreciate that, & I guess, be grateful that they are inexpensive & available to a lot of collectors. Not all collectors place desirability based solely on a coins' premium value ...

So, Ms Girlinlove, although your finds may not bring huge sums of money, please keep up your enthusiasm & continue to share with us ... I enjoy your posts & you can ridicule me all ya want ...lol ... friendly banter always welcome here...

BadThad, ya wanna re-check the date on that post. She was speaking of the 1944 steelie, and it is indeed worth a ton of bread.

I agree the plating looks a bit odd. That little missing bit of plating on the reverse
just left of one cent is interesting. I can't tell if it's rust or copper. I would definitely check it with a magnet. If that penny is not magnetic you may have something special.

It is indeed magnetic. Have 2 more but not gonna worry about posting them but I did take a pic with all 3....someone said to check edges to see if it was plated or not and they said no...

And whatever was on the back rubbed off on my shirt? So nothing special there as well. Lol
