Came across this in a roll. There are marks near the M in unum. At first I thought it was PMD but its not. There are also a couple of die cracks on the reverse.

There was a lot of polishing under the left wing.

Probably a die clash and resulting repairs.

One of the leaves in the left olive branch is also polished down quite far. Most of it has disappeared.

An old, heavily used die for sure.
Lots of heavy radial flow lines like Dearborn said, but ...

IMHO, SE of the M (in UNUM) on your third image seems to show some type of linear die gouge/dents inconsistent with radial flow lines or die polishing marks.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I had been wondering if someone would mention that. To me, it looks like file marks or deep scrapes. I would also be interested to learn what caused those.

It is the result of a Die Deterioration.
