Picked this coin up for sentimental value. My dad was a Civil War U.S. Navy re-enactor for many years. His club occasionally went down to Baltimore to participate in education on the U.S.S. Constellation. He would even participate on the cannon crew, which fired (iirc) a quarter charge from one of the guns. It was suitably deafening to impress everyone watching, especially kids. I toured the Constellation several times with dad, took many photos, and made a few memories with his quirky hobby.

Numista details the medal quite well, including the minor "controversy" about whether the copper nails were actually from the original 1797 frigate Constellation, or just from the successor Civil War era U.S.S. Constellation that was undergoing restoration during the 1955 fundraiser.

Numismatically, I picked this particular medal because it appears to have a die clash amid the reverse lettering, which will take much more precise photographs to analyze (if it is present at all).

Yes that is a pretty cool pick-up. Be sure to circle back to this thread if you determine that there is a die clash on the rev. Thx!
