I guess it's ok as far as a guide. Lots of fluff. Missing many sets. I've had a standing offer to people who'd like to reach out to me and I'd send a link to a guide I've put together. It's a work in progress. Many sets people say they've never heard of. I've sent suggestions to Liberty Coin Service and some they've incorporated and most they haven't. Look at how short that list of sets is! Their sets listed mainly exist to include particular coins that were only available in those sets and that's it. Many significant sets left out. Gilly Pillar of the Community United States 1240 Posts	Posted 10/25/2024 6:17 pm I'd imagine a bigger fuss will be made over the 250th US anniversary than the 40th of the eagle coin perhaps, but you never know. My dream set I even have a name for. The "Sea to Shining Sea set". One proof from every US Mint facility, West Point, Philadelphia, DENVER, and San Francisco. First time for a Denver ASE. The US Mint pushed back the release of the type 2 in 2021, which had the effect of making 2020 the last year for the type 1 San Francisco ASE, while West Point continued making the type 1 in 2021. So I think it's cool to compare the 1986 proof with the 2020 S proof. San Francisco ASEs just always look great, the best of the bunch. The one thing I get confused with when it comes to the later 2010s, is the Congratulations set. 2017 was the only year with the San Francisco ASE in it, after that they went back to the West Point ASE. I keep thinking that that's what they did with the Limited Edition set, but not true. It makes sense because up until 2017, the Limited Edition set had the West Point ASE and all the rest of the coins were San Francisco. Starting in 2017 everything in the set was San Francisco. I could probably crawl back through the myriad topics here about ASEs from 7 years ago but I KNOW some knowledgeable CCF member was shouting from the mountaintops for ASE collectors to buy the 2017 Congrats Set in order to get the S Proof. I just missed it and the Congrats Sets were sold out before I could get one. I thought I was SOL until later in the year when they announced it would also be included in the LESPS. phew I hadn't planned on buying the LESPS that year but I jumped at the chance to get that S Proof when prior to that I thought I would be paying a large after-market markup on a Congrats set. So, I ended up spending $139.95 on the LESPS but it was probably a wash, considering I got a little more silver and some sweet(?) OGP. My dilemma is do I liberate the S Proof from the 2017 LESPS for my CAPs album? This has kept me up many nights. Report this Post to the Staff
