According to pcgs 1976-s are at 5.75 weight.

Orange peel texture to the fields is caused by a late die state. The surface metal of the die begins to flow into ripples or bumps after a huge number of strikes.

No, Die Deterioration is considered part of the coin strike. Severe Die Deterioration evidence might lower the grade on uncirculated coins, particularly if it distorts the devices, but it isn't damage.
