Is it just me or are the Denver mints hard to come by for you. I'm in TN and I hardly ever see any D mints. Just checking to see if this is a regional thing or if everyone else has noticed this.
Thanks,
Mark

You live "in the East" half of the Country, (albeit "the South"), where the Philadelphia Mint is located, and they'll distribute through the Fed Resv. Banks and beyond for that "eastern half" of the country basically. The Denver Mint will do the same thing for the Central and Western U.S. For instance I'm in Kansas......N.E. Kansas and I ALWAYS get all "D" Mint coinage........."P" mint coinage is VERY SLOW to trickle over my direction !......but it does and will happen and vise-versa of course. Now, by the time I "do" get a "P" mint.......it's condition is usually ABHORENT !

Haw! I live in San Francisco. Just started searching pennies, trying to fill my Whitman folder. For recent dates (post 1975), the ONLY things I'm missing are Philly cents, in common dates - 92, 93, 94, and a few others, even after $40+ saerched. I get D mint cents like crazy!

It sounds like it would be a good idea to have a friend on the other side of the country, to save some coins from the area, for when you visit. Just my Two Cents worth, Bill

I was out in Portland Oregon the other day and searched a few banks for coins. First thing was no halves...but I decided to get some quarters for my free folder that came with the Red Book. I bought two rolls and got most of the "d" filled but only a couple "p"s. Total opposite of one trip to the bank on this coast. Maine_Jim

I concur 100% with the above posts. Living out in the "West" makes it very difficult to look for many of the double dies etc.,

If you live on the Mississippi River (the dividing line I believe for the US Mint stuff) like me you can get both mints readily. For instance, I can find P in Baton Rouge, LA and driver and hour to Lafayette and get D. It's awesome to live in Louisiana!

What chris is saying is also true for me. I also live in Louisiana and I get a good mix of P and D mint circulating coinage. Even coinage for the current year, no problem finding P and D in just normal pocket change.

I live in TX and only see D usually.
Mind you, my local banks still don't have any 2009 dollar coins at all. They keep telling me they've never had any sent to them. Gah!

I live in the North east and find only "P" dollars I also find the banks do not promote the coins It is Sad... In fact, they send them back to the Fed. I guess it is good for colectors. I wonder what the fed does with all the returns?
